📝 Overview

The ElderSuite Error Activity Log shows the application and error activity ElderSuite has recorded on the computer you are using. It gives your staff and ElderSuite support a quick way to see what happened while you work through a problem together, without anyone having to go looking for the file on the computer.

ElderSuite serves adult day care centers nationwide.

Open it from the Help Center with the Application Log button. That button is the only way in. The log cannot be opened from the Claim Center, Client Center, Nursing Center, Nutrition Center, Provider Center, or Report Center.

The log is a file kept with ElderSuite on that computer. It is not stored in the ElderSuite database, and it belongs to the computer rather than to your login, so a colleague on another computer will see a different log. The window is read-only: it shows the log exactly as recorded and never changes it.

If support also asks which version of ElderSuite you are running, see How to Open About ElderSuite. For freezes, slowdowns, and failed updates, start with Troubleshooting Common Computer Issues with ElderSuite.

⚙ How It Works

1. Open the Help Center

Click Help Center at the right-hand end of the ElderSuite main menu bar.

2. Click Application Log

In the Related Activities group at the lower left of the Help Center, click Application Log, the middle of the three buttons. Its tooltip reads Any application or error logging recorded by ElderSuite.

If a log exists on this computer, the ElderSuite Error Activity Log window opens on top of the Help Center. The Help Center cannot be used again until you close the log window.

If the log window ends up behind the main ElderSuite window, click it on screen to bring it forward, or close it and open it again from the Help Center.

3. Understand the Not Found Message

If no log exists on this computer, ElderSuite shows ElderSuite Error Activity Log not found. under the heading Not Found, and the log window does not open. You stay on the Help Center.

This message does not mean something is wrong. The log only exists once ElderSuite has recorded activity or an error on that computer. If support has asked for the log, reproduce the problem first, then click Application Log again.

4. Read and Scroll the Log

The whole log appears as one continuous block of plain text, exactly as it was recorded. Entries are listed in the order they were recorded, so the most recent activity is at the end. Scroll down to reach it.

Reading the log does not create new errors, even when the entries look alarming. They are a history of what was already recorded. If the window opens empty, the log held no text to show.

5. Copy the Text for Support

The window has no Copy, Save, or Print button. To pass the log on, select the text in the window, copy it with the keyboard, and paste it into whatever support asked you to send it in.

6. Close the Window

There is no Close button. Use the close control on the title bar, or press Esc or Alt+F4. You return to the Help Center.

✅ Important Limitations

The log window is view-only. Entries cannot be typed into, edited, cleared, or deleted from it.

The Application Log button only opens a log that already exists. It cannot create one.

There is no Refresh. Activity recorded while the window is open will not appear until you close the window and open it again.

There is no search, filter, or date range. Finding a particular entry means scrolling through the text.

Copying is keyboard only. The log cannot be saved or printed from this window.

The window shows only the log for the computer you are sitting at. Other computers running ElderSuite keep their own logs, so open the Application Log on the computer where the problem happened.

If ElderSuite reports an error as the log window opens, the log could not be read, for example because another program has it locked. Close the window and try again. If it keeps happening, pass the error report on to support.

For printouts that come out blank, cut off, or incomplete, see Report or Form Not Printing Correctly or Completely in ElderSuite.
