How to Install ElderSuite

Run ElderSuiteSetup.exe from your download email, finish the installer, then Create Account or Authorize Device so staff can sign in on every computer you need.

This article walks you through installing ElderSuite on a Windows computer after you already have the download email, from running ElderSuiteSetup.exe through the first sign-in. When you finish, you can put ElderSuite on every other computer your staff use the same way.

If you still need the installer email, request it on the ElderSuite download page. Confirm the computer meets the System Requirements there (Windows 10 or later) before you begin. This page does not repeat the download form.

Run the ElderSuite installer

Open the download email and click the link that downloads ElderSuiteSetup.exe. When the file finishes downloading, open it to start the ElderSuite Installer.

Administrator privileges are not required for the installer or for ElderSuite to run. You cannot choose the installation folder—the installer places ElderSuite in its fixed location.

  1. On the Welcome page, note the ElderSuite version shown for this install, then click Next to continue (or cancel if you are not ready).
  2. Review the license agreement. Click I accept the agreement to enable the next step. Use the Print link if you need a paper copy, or Back to return to the Welcome page.
  3. Click Install and wait while the installer finishes.
  4. On the completion screen, leave Launch ElderSuite checked if you want ElderSuite to open when you click Finish, or clear it if you prefer to start later from the desktop icon. Click Finish.

If you cleared Launch ElderSuite, start ElderSuite from the desktop icon when you are ready for the first launch.

First launch: create a trial or authorize this computer

Installing the software is only the first half. Each computer still has to be set up for an ElderSuite account through the Setup Wizard. Device authorization is per computer and is not automatic—“unlimited devices” means there is no license cap, not that setup is skipped.

On the provider selection panel of the ElderSuite main window:

  • Click Create Account if this is a new provider starting the 30-day free trial. The wizard opens on Select State; continue through the provider contact and address steps, then the account credentials step, until the account is created and this computer is registered as its first device.
  • Click Authorize Device if the provider account already exists and you are adding this computer. Enter the Provider Name and Account No., then Your User Name and Your Password—credentials for the account administrator or for an active employee who may authorize devices. Click Continue, wait through Authorizing Device..., then click Finish on Finish Existing Account Setup.

You can also open the ElderSuite application menu and choose Start Setup Wizard..., which begins on Select Account Type so you can pick New Account Setup or Existing Account Setup. No Center opens the Setup Wizard.

Sign in after setup

After the wizard closes, start ElderSuite if it is not already open. The Sign In window appears on top of the main window once the saved account connection file has been read.

  1. Confirm the bold account name at the bottom of the window matches the account this computer is set up for.
  2. Type the user name, then the password (each character shows as an asterisk).
  3. Click Sign In, or press Enter.

When sign-in succeeds, the Centers your access level allows become available. For staff who need their own logins and permissions, see How to Add Employees and Set Permissions in ElderSuite.

Automatic updates after the first install

You only download the installer once per computer. After that, ElderSuite keeps itself current:

  • It checks quietly at start-up, again every hour while it is running, and after an error it reports.
  • When an update is ready, Update Available appears in the status bar. Click it to install now (ElderSuite closes and the update installer opens—click Install, then start ElderSuite again), or leave it; the update installs silently the next time ElderSuite is closed.
  • You can also check on demand from Help Center → Update ElderSuite.

Nothing blocks work for permission to update. A computer only falls behind if ElderSuite is never closed after an update has downloaded.

Installing on additional computers

Install ElderSuite the same way on every computer that needs it—at the center, at an off-premise location, or on a machine that will reach more than one ElderSuite subscription. There is no per-device license limit and no per-user license limit. One computer can hold connections to more than one subscription when a multi-location organization works from a single machine; each subscription still covers one provider location.

On each new computer:

  1. Download and run ElderSuiteSetup.exe from the download email (or request a fresh link from the download page).
  2. Finish the installer, then click Authorize Device (or Start Setup Wizard... and choose Existing Account Setup) and complete Existing Account Setup with credentials that may authorize devices.
  3. Sign in as usual.

To see which computers are already registered for the provider you are signed in to, open Provider Center and click Manage Device Installations. The Device Installation List shows one row per authorized computer. Select a row and click Edit to open Device Installation Information. Check Deauthorized and click Save & Close to stop that computer from accessing the account (even with valid credentials); clear the box and save to restore access. You cannot deauthorize the computer you are currently signed in on—use a different computer for that change.

If staff will scan attendance sheets or documents on a new machine, choose the scanner connection in Select Scanner after install—see How to Choose a Scanner in ElderSuite.

If install or first launch stalls

  • Installer will not start. Confirm the download completed and that you opened ElderSuiteSetup.exe from the email link, not an incomplete browser download.
  • "This computer has not been set up for an ElderSuite account yet." Run the Setup Wizard (Create Account or Authorize Device) before trying to sign in or reset a password.
  • Wrong account on this computer. Use Authorize Device / Existing Account Setup with the correct Account No., or ask an administrator to review Manage Device Installations.
  • Need help finding a screen after you are in. Open Ask Eddie inside ElderSuite, or follow the steps on ElderSuite Support (phone +1 888.999.8055, support@eldersuite.com).

Still stuck? Open a support ticket. Include whether the installer finished, whether you used Create Account or Authorize Device, and the exact wording of any message on screen.

After ElderSuite is installed and signed in on the computers you need, add employees and set permissions so each staff member can work under their own login.
