đ Overview
Ask Eddie is ElderSuiteâs built-in assistant. You type a question about ElderSuite, and Eddie answers in a conversation inside the program, drawing its ElderSuite answers from our own documentation. You get guidance on a task, a field, a form number, or a screen without leaving the window youâre working in.
Ask Eddie is a help screen, not a record screen. It doesnât read, change, or delete any client, claim, attendance, or provider record, and nothing you type into it becomes an ElderSuite record. For an introduction to what Eddie can help with, see Meet Ask Eddie: Built-In Help for ElderSuite Users. This Guide covers how to use the window day to day.
â How It Works
Open Ask Eddie From a Center or the Help Center
Every Center has an Ask Eddie panel with a picture of Eddie and an Ask Eddie link. Clicking either one opens the same window.
The Help Center, opened from the Help Center button on the ElderSuite main menu bar, has the same Ask Eddie panel. That route works before anyone has signed in. For the rest of that screen, see the ElderSuite Help Center Overview.
There is one Ask Eddie window at a time. If itâs already open, clicking the link or picture from any Center brings that window to the front with your conversation in progress, rather than starting a new one.
Ask a Question
Type your question into the box along the bottom of the window, where the prompt reads âAsk anything...â. Press Enter or click the picture button to the right of the box, whose tip reads âClick to submit question...â. To start a new line without sending, hold Shift or Ctrl while you press Enter.
A fresh conversation opens with this welcome: âWelcome! Iâm Eddie, your ElderSuite Support Assistant. How can I help you today?â Your messages appear in blue on the right, and Eddieâs replies appear in green on the left.
While Eddie works out an answer, a progress window appears, and its wording changes from one question to the next. The submit button stays off until the reply finishes, so you ask one question at a time. A slow answer is normal. Each request can take up to two minutes.
Follow Up in the Same Conversation
While the window stays open, Eddie keeps your earlier questions and answers in mind. A short follow-up that only makes sense after the previous answer will still be understood, so you donât need to repeat the whole question.
That memory lasts only as long as the window is open. Closing Ask Eddie clears the conversation from your screen, and reopening it starts a new conversation with the welcome message again. There is no conversation history to return to.

Open Links and Copy Answers
When an answer contains a web address, click that message. The Select Link window lists the addresses it found so you can see where each one goes. Click the one you want to open it in your web browser, or click Cancel to stay in the conversation.
To keep an answer, right-click a message and choose Copy Message for that one message or Copy Conversation for the whole exchange, then paste it into an email or a note. A copied conversation is headed with your provider name, the session date and time, and your ElderSuite version, and each message shows its time and who sent it. You can also select part of an answer and copy just that.
The About Eddie link on the Ask Eddie window opens a short document describing Eddie and what it can help with.
Know What Ask Eddie Canât Do
Eddie gives guidance; you do the clicking. It can tell you where to go and what to select, but it canât see or control your screen, open a form, click anything, or change ElderSuite data. It canât raise a ticket or email anyone on your behalf. Answers donât include source titles or links to the documents they came from. There is no print or export option in the window, so copying is the way to keep what Eddie said.
â Copy What You Need Before You Close Ask Eddie
Closing the window ends the conversation on your side. Once it closes, the conversation is gone from your screen and canât be reopened. If you want to keep an answer or the whole exchange, use Copy Message or Copy Conversation before you close Ask Eddie.
đ Privacy & Security
Ask Eddie doesnât read your client records, so it doesnât pull client information into a conversation on its own. To answer, Ask Eddie sends your question to its documentation search and to the assistant service that works out the reply.
When you close the window, the whole conversation is emailed to ElderSuite so answers that read oddly can be reviewed. That copy is headed with the session date, time, and your ElderSuite version, and it includes a diagnostic log of how Eddie searched the documentation.
