How to Manage Meal Times in ElderSuite
Open Manage Meal Times from the Nutrition Center to set Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack hours. Save & Close stores the center's standing serving schedule.

📝 Overview
Meal Times is where the center records which meals it serves and the hours each one is served. Open Nutrition Center from the ElderSuite main menu and click Manage Meal Times. That opens the Meal Times window.
The schedule is one standing set of serving hours for the whole center. It is not per client and not tied to a particular service date. ElderSuite covers exactly four meals: Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack.
How to Calculate Meals from Attendance Times uses these serving times when it fills meal boxes from attendance. How to Record Daily Meals in ElderSuite is where staff mark the meals that were actually served.
⚙ How It Works
1. Open Meal Times
Open the Nutrition Center and click Manage Meal Times. The button caption reads Manage Meal Times (shown on two lines). The window title is Meal Times.
For a Limited Access sign-in, Manage Meal Times requires the Manage Meal Times permission on the employee record. Without it, the button is unavailable. Permissions are read at sign-in, so sign out and back in after the permission is granted. A Full Access user can open the window without that permission.
If Meal Times is already open, ElderSuite brings that window forward instead of opening a second copy.
2. Mark Which Meals the Center Serves
The four sections sit in a two-by-two layout: Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack.
In each section, check Yes when the center serves that meal. Clear Yes when the center does not serve it. The tooltip for Yes reads Select if you serve this meal.
Clearing Yes does not clear, hide, or gray out that meal's start and end times. The times stay on screen and are still saved with Save & Close.
3. Set Start and End Times
In each meal section, the layout runs left to right: the Yes checkbox, the start time, the word to, then the end time.
Click into a time field and type the time, or open the field's dropdown and pick it. Typed digits move through the hour, minute, and AM/PM parts automatically.
A time field will not release focus while it holds an entry ElderSuite cannot read as a time. No message appears; finish entering a usable time, then continue.
ElderSuite does not require an end time later than its start time. Check the times by eye before saving.
4. Save and Close
Click Save & Close when the schedule is ready. ElderSuite saves the four Yes settings and the eight start and end times, then closes the window.
There is no separate Save that leaves the window open, and there is no Cancel button. To abandon typed changes, close the window with its close control and answer No to Would you like to save your changes? If nothing changed, the window closes with no prompt.
If Meal Records is open when the save finishes, the newly saved times are handed to that window immediately so it shows the updated schedule without being reopened. Meal Records opened later reads the current times when it opens.
✅ Important Limitations
Meal Times covers exactly four meals. There is no Add button and no way to add a fifth meal or a different meal type. The screen edits the one standing set of times that already exists for the center. It does not create or delete meal-time records.
None of the Yes checkboxes or time fields are required. Save & Close works whatever state the four sections are in.
A meal that is not marked Yes, or whose Meal Times setting has never been filled in, is treated as not served when Calculate Meals runs.
If another user saves meal times while this window is open, ElderSuite refuses the save with Changes Discarded, closes the window, and the typed changes must be entered again against the current record.
⚠ Empty Sections Mean the Times Did Not Load
When Meal Times opens with empty-looking sections, or every time field shows 12:00 AM, the saved times probably did not finish loading. Close the window and open it again from Manage Meal Times. Do not type into the blank fields and save over the stored schedule.
