Use Calculate Meals on Meal Records to tick breakfast, lunch, and snacks from that day's attendance times. Review the boxes, then Save & Close so the meal counts stay with the day.

Meal Records is where a center records which meals each client on the roster was given on one service date, making the day's meal counts easy to review and save.
Use Calculate Meals when the day's pick-up and drop-off times are already on file. It ticks Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack from those times, so you do not have to check every box by hand.
Open Meal Records from the Nutrition Center. The window shows one date at a time.
You can still check or clear any box yourself. Calculate Meals never opens a scanner. Scan Meals is a different Guide, used when you are reading printed meal count logs.
Open the Nutrition Center and click Meal Records. The window opens on today's date.
Set Date to the service day you are recording so the grid shows that day's roster and the meals already on file.
Each row has a checkbox for Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack. An empty box means the meal was not served.
The serving hours Calculate Meals uses are the center's Meal Times. Those are set once for the whole center under Manage Meal Times on the Nutrition Center.
Click Calculate Meals. ElderSuite reads the day's pick-up and drop-off times and ticks the meals that fall during those hours.
A client with no attendance that day is skipped, because there are no times to work from. You can still check those boxes by hand if the client was served a meal.
If a client stayed for the whole day, Calculate Meals uses that one stretch of time. If a client went home and came back, both trips are used.
A meal the center does not serve, according to Meal Times, stays unchecked.
The boxes will appear filled on the grid, but they have not yet been stored in ElderSuite.
Click Save & Close to write the day and close the window.
Until you click Save & Close, the meals Calculate Meals filled in have not been stored in ElderSuite.
Meal Records never writes times, units, or pay amount. Those belong to Attendance & Transportation Records.
Saving a meal for a client who has no times that day creates a Pending attendance record with empty times.
Calculate Meals does not create attendance times. Clients with no attendance that day are skipped.
It does not tick a meal the center does not serve in Meal Times.
It does not write times, units, or a pay amount. Those belong to Attendance & Transportation Records.
It does not save the day. Closing without Save & Close discards the boxes it just filled in.
It does not read a printed meal count log. That is Scan Meals.
Always review the boxes before you save.
Calculate Meals only fills the checkboxes. The day is not stored until you click Save & Close.
If the boxes look right and then disappear, the day was not saved.
After you review the grid, click Save & Close to store the day.
