How to Manage Device Installations in ElderSuite

See every computer authorized for ElderSuite, withdraw access when a machine is retired or lost, and restore authorization when a deauthorization was a mistake.

📝 Overview

Manage Device Installations shows every computer that has been authorized to run ElderSuite for the provider you are signed in to. Use it when a machine is retired, lost, or replaced—or when you need to confirm which computers can still sign in.

Open the Provider Center from the ElderSuite main menu and click Manage Device Installations. ElderSuite opens the Device Installation List. From a row, open Device Installation Information to review details and check or clear Deauthorized.

This is the list of computers already on your account. Adding a new computer still uses Authorize Device (or the Setup Wizard) on that machine—see How to Install ElderSuite. Staff permissions for who may open this list are set with employees in the Provider Center—see How to Add Employees and Set Permissions in ElderSuite.

âš™ How It Works

1. Open Manage Device Installations

Open the Provider Center and click Manage Device Installations. A please-wait message appears while the list loads, then the Device Installation List opens inside the ElderSuite main window.

For a Limited Access sign-in, the button is enabled only when the Manage Device Installations permission is granted on the employee record. Without that permission the button is unavailable. Under Full Access, the button stays available. Permission changes take effect at the next sign-in.

If the list is already open, clicking Manage Device Installations brings it forward instead of opening a second copy.

2. Review the Device Installation List

Each row is one computer authorized for the provider you are signed in to. The list shows eight columns, including Deauthorized, InstallDate, Last Accessed, DeviceName, Windows User, ElderSuite Version, Set Up By, and Identity.

The grid is read-only. Typing while it has focus jumps to a matching row—there is no separate search box. Sort a column when you need a different order. Close the list with the window’s close control; there is no Close button on the toolbar.

3. Open a Computer’s Record

Select a row and click Edit, or double-click the row. ElderSuite opens Device Installation Information as a dialog for that computer.

Edit is the only toolbar button on the list. Use it to inspect a machine or to change its authorization status.

4. Review Device Installation Information

Device Installation Information shows read-only details such as Installation Date, Last Accessed, Device Name, Device ID, Windows user and domain, Processor ID, ElderSuite version, and operating system information. Those values come from the selected record and cannot be typed over.

The only control you can change is the Deauthorized check box.

5. Deauthorize or Re-Authorize, Then Save & Close

To stop a computer from using ElderSuite for this provider, check Deauthorized and click Save & Close. Use Device Name, Windows User, and Processor ID to confirm you have the right machine before you save—especially when two rows look similar.

Do this from a different computer if the machine you are withdrawing is the one you are signed in on. ElderSuite will not let you deauthorize the computer you are logged into; it shows You may not Deauthorize the computer you are logged into. under the heading Deauthorization Failed, leaves the window open, and saves nothing.

Deauthorization is reversible. Reopen the same record, clear Deauthorized, and click Save & Close to restore authorization.

When the save succeeds, the dialog closes and the list updates. If someone is still signed in on a computer you just deauthorized, ElderSuite ends that session within about five minutes with a message that the computer’s authorization was removed, and asks them to run the Setup Wizard with permitted credentials if the machine should be authorized again.

âś… Important Limitations

The Device Installation List does not add a computer. There is no Add New button. New machines are authorized on that computer with Authorize Device or the Setup Wizard.

There is no Delete button on the list or on Device Installation Information. Withdrawing access means checking Deauthorized and saving—not removing the row.

The list is read-only. Every change to authorization is made on Device Installation Information with Deauthorized and Save & Close.

Manage Device Installations opens only from the Provider Center. It is not available from other Centers.

The list shows installations for the provider you are signed in to. It does not show another provider’s computers from this window.

âš  You Cannot Deauthorize the Computer You Are Using

If you check Deauthorized on the computer you are currently signed in on and click Save & Close, ElderSuite rejects the save under Deauthorization Failed with You may not Deauthorize the computer you are logged into.

Sign in on another authorized computer, open the retired or lost machine’s row, check Deauthorized, and save from there.
